About Bengaluru City University
Bengaluru City University was established through an amendment to the Karnataka State Universities Act, 2000. Although the enabling amendment was made in August 2015, the university became operational with the appointment of its first Vice-Chancellor in July 2017, with academic activities beginning subsequently.
The university has jurisdiction over central Bengaluru and operates through its university departments, postgraduate centres and a large network of affiliated colleges. Its academic areas include Arts, Science, Commerce & Management, Education and other interdisciplinary programmes.
